If you received your dog's results and are having trouble seeing the reported breeds when you look at your dog, here's some things to keep in mind:
- Genes' impact on appearance
Less than 1% of a dog's 20,000 genes impact appearance!
It's possible that your dog's DNA highly matches a breed, but those particular genes are not the main force driving your dog's appearance.
- How breeds blend
Keep in mind that if a dog has 4 breeds in their results, they may not look 25% like each one! They also may not necessarily have ears from one breed and a nose from another.
How your dog looks fully blends the genes from every breed. This makes it even harder to identify their breed mix by looking at them.
