Frequency
American Pit Bull Terriers (ABPTs) are one of the most common breeds in Embark dogs.
We are very confident in our ability to accurately identify the significant diversity within this breed.
Shelter Dogs
American Pit Bull Terriers are also among the most common dogs in shelters in America. Due to this, we see rescues return as APBTs quite often.
While we tend to assume all shelter dogs and strays must be highly mixed, we do sometimes see rescues return as single-breed dogs.
Variety
American Pit Bull Terriers have quite a wide variety of looks and physical characteristics that may lead you to anticipate mixed ancestry.
Please note that the APBT breed standard does not account for the significant variation we see in looks within the breed. Many single-breed dogs' looks do range far outside the breed standard.
