Copper Toxicosis was added to our health screening panel in May 2024.
If your dog was tested before this, they will not have results for Copper Toxicosis in their screening.
We are unable to backfill this result onto the profiles of dogs who did not receive this screening.
If you would like to a new kit to re-test a previously tested dog, please contact us.
What this means for your dog
Please note that having no result is not the same as being clear for Copper Toxicosis.
A dog tested before May 2024 could carry Copper Toxicosis-related genes and pass them to offspring who would test for having copies of the gene.
A new Embark test would be required in order to determine whether your previously tested dog has this condition.
That being said, we currently only have this disease listed as on-breed for Dobermans and Labradors. Unless your dog is in these breeds, we're unable to confirm that having this gene could cause negative impact to your dog.
