Dogs with wolf content inside 3 generations do not have Relative Finder.
Here at Embark, we take the privacy of all of our customers very seriously. For this reason, along with feedback provided by our customers within the wolfdog community, we have chosen to remove the Relative Finder feature for dogs with recent undomesticated canine ancestry.
We understand that this may be a disappointment for some who were hoping to locate or identify relatives of their dog through the Embark platform. However, to ensure the comfort and privacy of our entire customer base who have dogs with undomesticated canine ancestry, we needed to remove the feature and cannot offer an ‘opt-in’ function at this time.
Wolfdog and undomesticated canine hybrids are a sensitive topic, and legal ownership of these animals varies greatly by location. In some cases, people test their dogs and are unaware that they had any undomesticated canine in their ancestry. While Embark is happy to provide them with a more in-depth look at their dog’s lineage, we never want to be the reason that someone is put in an uncomfortable situation. By removing the Relative Finder feature from dogs with undomesticated canine ancestry, we can ensure that this information is only shared by the owner of the animal if and when they choose to share it.
If you have tested your dog with Embark and they do have undomesticated canine ancestry, please rest assured that Embark will never share or discuss your dog’s results unless we are given direct and specific instructions from you to do so.
You can also ensure that your dog’s results are set to private by going to their profile and modifying the Privacy Settings (found in the edit profile section). Here you can set your dog’s breed, health, etc. to private so that it is only visible to you and Embark.
Additionally, Embark is always happy to help you run relatedness tests between your dog and other Embark-tested dogs upon request. Please see our Help Center article here for more information on how to submit these inquiries.
Should you need further assistance, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you! |
