When a result is shared between a veterinarian and a pet owner or breeder account, the primary difference is in the results report. This is because our veterinary report is written by veterinary geneticists for veterinary professionals.
It is more detailed in providing actionable information about a genetic variant such as:
- Clinical signs
- Age of onset
- Penetrance
- Follow-up recommendations.
The pet owner report, while interesting, provides a limited overview of the result and what actions to take. Pet owners also do not have access to working directly with our veterinary geneticist.
In fact - pet owners and breeders do not miss out on any features they would have access to by doing the testing on their own. Instead- they gain additional information by working with you. They still will have access to features like Relative Finder, Family Tree, and insights into their dog’s breed.
How do I share ownership of a patient’s DNA profile?
