Our veterinary geneticists and highly trained team members can help you interpret your dog's results
What is genetic counseling?
Genetic counseling provides you with information on the clinical risk for an individual dog based on their genotype and the known mode of inheritance and penetrance of the variant. Additionally, counseling can inform on the chance of genetically inherited diseases in offspring based on their parents' known genotypes.
How do I receive genetic counseling from Embark?
Please reach out to our Customer Support team with your questions. Either they or one of our Veterinary Geneticists can answer your questions and provide the help you need to care for your dog, or help you select an appropriate breeding pair based on genetic results.
Do I need to buy an Embark test to get genetic counseling?
Yes, you will need to purchase Breed + Health kit or an Embark for Breeders kit. However, if you are looking for counseling on a breeding pair, at least one of the dogs should be tested with us in order to provide information on a potential litter. While we cannot ensure the quality of tests from other providers, but we are happy to help you interpret them as best as we can.
Please note: Only your veterinarian can provide medical recommendations. Embark's resident veterinarians cannot provide diagnoses or medical advice, but can provide expert insights about your dog's genetic results. You can reach our team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
