New health conditions have been added. Will my dog receive updated results?
When a dog receives results on their ‘Health’ page, it means they were screened for every genetic health condition included in our testing panel at that time. As canine genetics is an ongoing science that Embark actively contributes to, we regularly add new conditions to our testing panel.
While in many instances, we are able to use markers on earlier versions of our microarray to automatically update previously tested dogs, there are also times when we do not have these markers in place on earlier chips and therefore are not able to do this.
If your dog's results were not backfilled to reflect a new health condition, it is either not supported by the chip your dog was genotyped on, as described above, or your dog does not have ancestry known to be affected by that condition. If you have already tested your dog with us and would like to purchase an additional kit to have that dog tested against our most up-to-date health and trait panels, please contact us and we’d be happy to help you order a discounted kit.
