We respect your dog’s privacy.
What are Embark's privacy policies?
Nothing is shared without your permission. Embark does have a policy of scientific openness, which means anonymized, aggregated data where personally identifiable information has been scrubbed can be shared from time to time with research partners in an effort to end various heritable diseases or better understand canine genetics. If you do not want to participate in that research, you can opt out during activation.
You can also review our Privacy Policy here.
What about HIPAA?
Your medical information is protected by HIPAA, an act of Congress that provides rules to ensure the security and confidentiality of your health information. Though there is no equivalent for dogs, Embark adheres to many of the same standards.
Embark takes your privacy very seriously, and this includes the genetic results of your dog. We do not disclose your dog's information paired with identifying information (like name or address) without your permission. You can also choose to opt out of sharing your dog's data for research collaborations altogether. Please see your privacy settings to change any of these settings.
Does the product have privacy controls?
Yes! You can choose to share each section of your dog's results publicly, or not. Learn more: How do I change my dog's privacy settings?
