Other than research, Embark's primary focus is on Breeders, and we are working to make our product the only test for your genetic testing needs. We'd love to hear your feedback so that we can continue to meet your expectations. Please reach out early and often, and we will be happy to help.
Embark is dedicated to helping you make better breeding decisions. Our comprehensive DNA test provides the most complete genetic profile of any single test available on the market today—for about half the cost of the typical battery of breed tests.
In addition, we are also committed to helping improve the overall health of your breed. In just six months, we built the largest canine database in the world to find even deeper genetic insights. We are continuing to expand it so that one day many of the worst genetic diseases can be gone forever. Our commitment to canine health is why Embark continues to actively work with breed clubs and foundations to find new genetic information about the diseases affecting individual breeds.
However, Breeders bring a special level of knowledge to this discovery process. So we are reaching out and asking you to tell us what health conditions you are most concerned about—we want to focus our research on our customers' concerns.
Breeders receive special discounted pricing: $179 per kit, and each additional kit you purchase in the same transaction is just $129. You will need to use a customized coupon code to get Breeder pricing, so please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org to get your code.
With one simple saliva swab, and for about half the cost of a typical battery of breeder DNA tests, Embark now identifies the following:
- An expanded range of 15 color and coat traits
- COI and DLA (immune) diversity measures
- Plus, more than 160 genetic diseases or risk factors
Important Note: While the OFA accepts our results, they may not accept results that currently have patents and agreements with certain labs. For a full list of OFA approved tests, please visit http://www.offa.org/dna_alltest.html.
In addition, here are all of the coat colors and traits that we can report for your review:
- A Locus (Agouti): Ay, Aw
- B Locus (Brown): B, b
- D Locus (Dilute): D, d
- E Locus (Mask/Grizzle): Em, Eg
- K Locus (Dominant Black): Kb, Ky
We’re not able to differentiate between a few alleles at A and E—in particular, namely the alleles At, a, E, and e. We are in the final stages of quality control and will be adding them to results as soon as they pass validation. If your dog has a genotype that we can’t call due to these alleles, we’ll list all the possible genotypes that your dog could have.
Other traits we include:
- Curly Coat (KRT71)
- Long Hair (FGF5)
- Shedding (MC5R)
- Hind Dewclaws (LMBR1)
- Altitude Adaptation (EPAS1)
- Brachycephaly (BMP3)
- Body Size (IGF1, IGF1R, GHR, STC2)
For both purebred and mixed-breed dogs, we also are providing you with a coefficient of inbreeding, which is a measure of how related the parents of your dog were; additionally, we provided the immune diversity at the Dog Leukocyte Antigen DQA1-DQB1 and DRB1 loci.
Genetic testing is changing the face of human health care. Similarly, we believe it will revolutionize the way dogs are bred, placed, and ultimately cared for over their lifetimes. This presents an opportunity:
