Not yet! But we hope to in the future!
Our traits testing includes one FGF5 (coat length) variant, which is described here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16879338/
We’ve recently seen an uptick in concerns regarding the "Fluffy" gene in French Bulldogs. After consulting with our Health and Traits team, we learned that there are other mutations of the coat length gene that we can not test for just yet. The FGF5 gene is where coat length is determined, in this case, long coat length. While we can test for long coat length, there is a specific genetic mutation that, when two copies are present, results in a long-haired French Bulldog. This particular mutation within the FGF5 gene seems to be specific to the breed and can not be identified by our test at this time but we hope to add it to our test panel in the future.
